(Q1)
How can I get brighter light traces?
(A1)
The darker the shooting environment, or the brighter the light source, the brighter the light traces will be.

(Q2)
The light traces get cut off.
(A2)
The light traces will get cut off or become faint if the background in Step 1 contains bright light.
If you keep the camera stationary and avoid changing the view throughout all three steps, the bright light in the background will fill in the fainter parts of the light traces, so the symptom may not be as noticeable.

If in Step 1 or 2 there are areas other than the light traces where brightness changes light noise may appear in the saved image. Reflections on water are an example.
